We are delighted to introduce an unique hand papermaking programme to the land of friendship, mystery, excitement and diverse socio-cultural experience providing opportunity for those who would like to explore Nepal in unique way. The craftsmen of the Kathmandu Valley were respected at the royal court of China in ancient times. You will have the opportunity to make your own handmade paper and learn about basic Nepalese paper making techniques, ways to enhance basic paper, experimenting with adding locally found fibers, pulp, flower petal, seeds, corn husk, straw, glitters, hemp fiber, nettle fiber etc. You have the possibilities to learn traditional handmade paper, dye paper with natural vegetable dyes and artificial dyes, book arts, book binding, greeting cards & journals making, silk screen printing etc depending on the duration of workshop you have chosen.

Paperworld Nepal Maintains professionalism in handmade paper and products, offers wide range of equipment and supplies for workshop participants. Workshop Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrival and transfer to Royal Astoria Hotel, welcome drink is served, briefing in evening and , complementary dinner is served.

Day 2:  
Workshop will start with familiarization and introduction of raw materials for pulp and fibers, learn how to make handmade paper using Lokta; Daphne Papyracea - shrubs in traditional method. and other decorative papers.

Day 3:
One will learn about different dyes suitable for paper and the methods of coloring using plants and synthetic dyes. This includes preparation of dyes, different methods of dyeing.

Day 4:  
Preparation of decorative paper for suitable products development, like boxes, covers for journals, photo frames and much more.

Day 5:  
Bookbinding: you will construct a variety of book structures, beginning with a single sheet of paper and progressing to a multi-section hard cover blank book, beside this you get an introduction how to make cards, boxes, bags, photo frames, cards.

Day 6:
Briefing and demonstration about silk screen printing on products or printing greeting or business card.

Day 7:
Leisure or drive back to International Airport for departure.

Cost:
Full Day workshop: 
US$ 40 per person per day
Half Day Workshop: 
US$ 25 per person per half Day

Cost includes full / half day workshop on handmade paper & Products making, you have access to all materials and facilities available for workshop. Light lunch and tea, mineral water or soft drinks during the workshop. The cost also includes Airport pick up and drop off service, transfer from hotel to workshop and from(for full 7 days program only.) Additional travel information and sightseeing arrangement can be arranged upon your request.

Accommodation: 
Clean and comfortable accommodation will be made available at Royal Astoria Hotel at the following cost:Twin Sharing Basis: US$ 20 per person per night Single Occupancy: US$ 35 per person per night. Above cost include accommodation as stated above, daily breakfast and all taxes.

Optional Accommodation(For more than 10 nights stay) 
Royal Astoria Hotel has 5 well maintained studio rooms with private bathroom, cable TV, telephone, back up lights and small Kitchenette equipped with two ring electric hob, refrigerator, microwave & electric kettle. You have the possibilities to make your own breakfast, Tea/Coffee and small meal. As we have limited studios , therefore it will depend on availability..

Cost for the Studio Accommodation: 
Twin sharing room only basis:
US$ 15 per person per night

Single occupancy on room only basis:  
US$ 25 per person per night

For longer period workshop, it is entirely depend on you , if you wish to learn more about the process you have learned in past 5 days , wish to develop gifts products for your friends and families, you can produce yourself some products and art works and carry home with you by paying only the cost of materials used. Our artists will help you during the process. or if you wish to perfection in particular subject like paper making, dyeing, book binding, silk screen printing , you can ask for additional classes. Or if you wish to explore Kathmandu valley or beyond, you may do so. If you need help to organize your trip , we will be glad to assist you to organize it.

Payment: 
After acceptance your participation, we request you to transfer US$ 60 per person as a guarantee which will be deducted from your total invoice, however it will not be refunded if the cancellation is made from your side. Remaining payment can be made in advance by wired transfer to our bank or shall be made upon your arrival in Kathmandu in any convertible currency.
